Letter Leaders Workbook 1: Prewriting Skills

In this first workbook, children begin the art of handwriting by learning four prewriting skills. The first skill is to learn the concepts of top, bottom, and middle, as each of these orientations relates to line creation in the formation of alphabet letters. Once learners understand these placement concepts, they are taught the second skill, which is to recognize and identify various straight and curvy lines based on the orientation of those lines. After recognition has been established, the next two steps are to learn how to properly form vertical and horizontal lines. The four sections of workbook one are as follows:

  • Directional Concepts
  • Line Identification
