The Letter Leaders Handwriting Screening (LLH Screening) is a nine-item instrument intended to identify handwriting difficulties in children four years six months, through six years zero months of age. The LLH Screening measures dexterity, fine motor control, visual motor integration skills and crossing midline, as these domains have been found to be good indicators of handwriting performance (Amundson, 2001; Tsend & Murray, 1994; Weintraub & Graham, 2000). The LLH screening is comprised of four sections:
- Directional Concepts
- Line Identification
- Timed Motor Control Vertical and Horizontal Line Formation (two subtests)
- Repeated Visual Motor Integration Activity (five subtests)
The LLH Screening is designed to be a quick and efficient way to determine whether a student may be at risk for handwriting problems.
